The Centre for Conflict Resolution (CCR) is an independent, non-governmental Pan-African organisation, based in Cape Town, South Africa. Over the past 48 years, it has worked to promote constructive, creative, and co-operative approaches to the resolution of conflicts and the reduction of violence in Africa. The Centre has produced ground-breaking research on African security and governance issues, conducted extensive capacity-building training, and facilitated peace processes across Africa.
CCR seeks to appoint a Researcher or Senior Researcher to be based in Cape Town.


  • To assist in organising and rapporteuring a high-level policy seminar and public dialogue on the Southern African Development Community (SADC)
  • Produce a policy brief from the seminar, as well as opinion editorials related to the discussion themes of the seminar and public dialogue
  • Monitor and evaluate the immediate outcomes of the seminar
  • Contribute to the writing of funder reports
  • Conduct research and other tasks, as may be required within the scope of the Centre's policy development and research work


  • PhD in Politics, International Relations, or a related field in the Social Sciences for appointment as a Senior Researcher, or Master's degree in Politics, International Relations, or a related field in the Social Sciences for appointment as a Researcher
  • Writing, editing, research, and analytical skills
  • Some experience of organising conferences, workshops, or seminars
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and use of the internet
  • Knowledge of SADC and/or peacebuilding and region-building issues in Southern Africa
  • Experience of working in a non-governmental organisation (NGO)
  • Ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of the AU, the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the Great Lakes region, rebel movements in Africa, and/or the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa)
  • National and international research networks
  • Publishing ability
  • Experience of working in a non-governmental organisation (NGO)
