AFSA wishes to appoint suitably qualified individuals to serve as Community System Strengthening Coordinator based in Durban. The ideal candidate would have specific experience in curriculum and materials development for training programmes designed for Civil Society Organizations in the areas of HIV Education, Gender, HR, IT, and Treatment Literacy. The applicant must also have some knowledge on provincial coordination. Applicants must have the ability to work in a demanding and high pressured environment and be able to travel extensively and frequently.


  • Development of CSS assessment tools;
  • Development of curricula and training/learning materials, including adaptations and customization of existing materials;
  • Ensure that the course design and learning materials for accredited training courses are aligned to the relevant SETA unit standards and requirements;
  • Recruit, guide and supervise external services providers contracted to develop learning materials, facilitate training, conduct assessments etc;
  • Provide technical assistance to Primary Recipient CSS Officers in the use and application of assessment tools and course materials;
  • Supervise the Accreditation Administrator ;
  • Development of CSS assessment tools;
  • Supervise CSS Officers;
  • Supervise and monitor quality of trainings and mentorship;
  • Work on accreditation of learners with the service providers;
  • Supervise the service providers and or  training consultants;
  • Supervise and take part in CSS  activities from Assessments to close out;
  • Attend key CSS Meetings as and when needed;
  • Coordinate the submission of Monthly reports to the CSS Manager
  • Coordinate writing of success stories to the CSS Manager;
  • Monitor programme timelines;
  • Take part in CSS administrative duties, such as co-ordinating submission of time sheets etc.
  • CSS coordinator must be knowledgeable of GF programmes in the grant;
  • Supervise and ensure CSO optimal linkages are prioritised;
  • Work very closely with the CSS Manager;
  • Work with Provincial Coordinators as and when needed;


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Education, Adult Basic Education and Training or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ capacity building experience within health or social development is essential
  • Experience with SETA requirements
  • Valid driver’s license required and at least one years’ driving experience
