The Rachel Swart Fund is a non-profit organisation based in Cape Town, South Africa. Dedicated to helping individuals with physical disabilities, the Fund provides and helps maintain mobility devices for South Africans around the country who live in under-resourced communities and cannot afford them. 

The Fund seeks to appoint an Administrator to be based in Cape Town.

Reports to: The Chairperson of the Fund

Salary: A competitive salary will be offered to the successful candidate


  • Run the day to day operations
  • Receiving applications, assessing, querying them and preparing them for Committee approval
  • Manage staff to ensure they complete their duties. There are two staff - a secretary and a part-time bookkeeper
  • Liaise with professionals to widen the Fund’s professional base and ensure applications are correct and comply with Rachel Swart requirements
  • Assist and draft donor applications
  • Adhere to RDF policies.
  • Assist with drafting donor reports timeously
  • Respond to donor queries or requirements
  • Act within policies of the Fund
  • Organise at least one fund raising event per annum
  • Attend networking sessions in the disability sector
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive files on beneficiaries
  • Check and input data into the Monitoring and Evaluation program (Salesforce)
  • Keep accurate minutes of committee meetings
  • Follow up on matters from Committee meetings
  • Draft annual budget
  • Liaise with bookkeeper to ensure financial data in Salesforce agrees to general ledger and assist bookkeeper in producing monthly accounts


  • Own transport is essential, required to travel nationally 
  • A tertiary qualification is desirable, preferably in social work
  • At least five years’ commercial experience, some of which needs to be in the NGO environment
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity
  • Dealings with the disabled and the State Health Care sector is an advantage
  • Administration skills and experience in administration are essential
  • Ability to develop networks in the NGO world is important
  • Basic IT skills 
  • Ability to draft donor proposals
  • Ability to work independently
  • Needs perseverance and determination
  • Needs to ensure all systems are working as per the Fund’s policies
  • Empathy with beneficiaries
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of people
  • Ability to motivate staff
  • Understanding of accounting, management accounts and budgeting
  • Proficient in Salesforce software and have experience in Monitoring and Evaluation
  • Organising fund raisers for Rachel Swart is also a requirement
