Society for Family Health (SFH) is a South African affiliate of Population Services International (PSI), an international NGO network operational in over 70 countries. SFH in South Africa concentrates on issues of HIV/ AIDS. As part of their HIV/AIDS control efforts, SFH is using social marketing to motivate behaviour change with respect to consistent condom use, HIV testing and other safer behaviours.
We are hiring for a M & E Manager, and below are the roles and responsibilities of the role;

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implementation of an annual M&E plan for each program area
  • Evaluate existing M&E processes and systems in order to provide effective processes, systems and software solutions going forward.
  • Develop SOP and guidelines for the information system
  • Design training for management on analysis of data
  • Work with program staff to ensure the implementation of SIMS
  • Manage the following areas along with the Database administrator:
  • Provide technical assistance in the design of data collection process  
  • Facilitate the data cleaning
  • Develop training curriculum for MIS
  • Manage the following areas along with the Quality Assurance Officer:
    • Ensure SFH is reporting quality data monthly taking into consideration data cleaning, validation and consistency checks
    • Conduct regular meetings with program heads for reviewing the data collection validation system
    • Deliver training on the use of the programs quality assurance systems
  • Compile and submit M&E donor reports as required
  • Support programs to write up abstracts and publications
  • Staff management
    • Ensure that all staff members are motivated, accountable and properly trained
    • Undertake direct report are trained, motivated, accountable
    • Staff mentoring and coaching in line with staff development and management of high quality performance
    • Ensure team cross-functionality within the department


  • Minimum relevant post graduate qualification i.e. Developmental Studies, Monitoring and Evaluations, Programme Evaluation, IT
  • Minimum 5 years monitoring and evaluations experience within corporate/HIV environment
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in management information systems
  • PEPFAR M&E experience will be an advantage
  • Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel as required
  • Good communication skills
  • Advanced computer literacy
  • Ability to analyse data in informing decisions being made
  • Deadline driven
  • Strong attention to detail
