Yabonga Children's Project is a Cape Town-based non-governmental organisation supporting people living with HIV. We are an NGO which aims to enable children and youth disadvantaged through socioeconomic circumstances and the impact of HIV to reach their full potential. Drawing on family, community and state structures, Yabonga offers a comprehensive model of care for vulnerable children and youth. In providing holistic support. We stimulate healthy emotional, social and academic development, and build capacity to lead productive lives.

Yabonga seeks to appoint a Social Worker / Staff Development and Training Manager, based in Cape Town.

Start date: 1 June 2017

Candidates must be a qualified Social Worker with some experience of working with Children and youth, have strong administrative, leadership, relationship management and communication skills, be highly flexible and able to work in a demanding environment, have good problem solving capabilities, have a high work ethic.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing the knowledge and skills of the Team, thus ensuring that Yabonga is able to meet its current and future objectives, and in so doing the Team is empowered to deliver quality services to its beneficiaries. This position also focuses on emotional wellness & individual counselling services within the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Staff Development
    • Manage and Co-ordinate personal debriefing sessions for relevant staff
    • Conduct personal de-briefing for staff
    • Provide counselling to staff when needed, or refer to other relevant organisations for services.
    • Provide support and mentoring for all staff, particularly Team Leaders
  • Training
    • Develop a Training programme for all Yabonga staff that is appropriate and relevant to specific roles
    • Coordinate all training activities and sessions for all staff
    • Development and update of training material of the Yabonga training programme
    • Deliver specific training when required and needed and training the Trainers
    • Conduct ongoing needs assessment of all staff, to determine training needs
    • Network with organisations for outsourced training
    • Coordinate all logistics for all training
    • Oversee and monitor the training budget

Requirements:

  • A Tertiary qualification in Counselling/Training with at least two years’ experience
  • isiXhosa speaking
  • Must have a Driver’s Licence
  • Computer Literacy
  • Communication and interpersonal skills
  • Emotional maturity
