Go for Gold seeks to appoint, a Junior Accountant/Senior Bookkeeper, based in Cape Town.

Remuneration: Position can be structured as half day or full day post.

  • Full day: R12 000 - R18 000 gross per month depending on experience
  • Half day: R8 000 – R11 000 gross per month depending on experience

Responsibilities:

  • Use and run financial systems, ensure compliance, maintain accurate records and report against general accounting practice
  • Manage preparation of the organisation’s annual and multi-year budgets
  • Work closely with the management team to preparing the timely delivery of accurate, useful financial reports to advise decision making
  • Work with the Fundraiser to reporting to funders and stakeholders on organisational expenditure 
  • Work closely with provincial project managers to manage provincial budgets
  • Liaise with external auditors to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies; and preparation of audit pack and to attend to all auditor’s queries
  • Liaise with funders, sponsors and partners to achieve organisational objectives
  • Manage all payments to be made by the organisation to various creditors while ensuring compliance through banking system and petty cash; liaising with bank
  • Process Salaries, Payroll, service provider payments and updating relevant records
  • Ensure all monthly Journals and managements statements are kept and provide regular report back summaries on journals, budget and cash flow
  • Assist with staff cash and transport claims, create petty cash system
  • Assist with ensuring the governance and compliance is in place for the organisation
  • Attend to other issues as requested by management from time to time

Requirements:

  • Relevant Tertiary Education
  • Grade 12 with Accounting Diploma/Degree
  • Two years in accounting environment
  • Experience in a middle-level financial management
  • Computer Literate
  • Experience with complex project based finances is necessary, including multiple reporting requirements and knowledge of Pastel Projects
  • Knowledge of the donor environment is essential
  • Knowledge of company secretarial functions, experience in managing grant-making activities and non-profit sector resource mobilisation and previous experience in Education or BBBEE or Development sectors would be an advantage
  • Passion for accounting
  • Accounting experience with good knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Experience working finance and accounting software packages – especially Pastel Projects and Excel
  • Ability to work on own, while still partaking in close team environment
  • Systematic approach to work (good planning, organisation and problem-solving skills)
  • Numeracy, written and oral communication
  • Emotional intelligence, high level of integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
