The Project Officer will provide support in terms planning, coordinating and implementation of the project activities in the provinces. The project officer will be responsible for liaising with youth clubs; partners, CSOs and service providers to ensure timely and quality implementation of the project.
Key responsibilities

Coordinate the implementation of the project activities in Limpopo:

  • Identify potential youth Networks; youth Clubs and CSOs that support the youth engagement and social economic developments
  • Liaise with and support the consultant responsible for the needs and feasibility study for the project
  • Coordinate and participate in the key stakeholders meeting which relate to the project objectives 
  • Support and participate in the development of project implementing plan in line with the proposed project output and outcomes
  • Carry out the implementation of project activities directed to project goals, objectives, critical success factors, milestones, and risks for project completions
  • Facilitate, coordinate and lead the formulation and strengthening the functionality of the child and youth networks/ clubs
  • Facilitate and coordinate the linkages between the Youth Networks and CSOs with the government and private institutions
  • Create project Knowledge Management procedures with the line manager
  • Provide training to the YN; YC and CSOs to actively participate in economic development initiatives
  • Incorporating best practices into daily operations.
  • Organise regular meetings with key participants to develop plan of action and monitor the implementation of activities
  • Organise the logistics, communications and preparations of media interviews or write up about the project objectives and its interventions
  • Identify further learning and support needs of the targeted project beneficiaries or participants
  • Compile progress reports, case studies and human interest stories related to the project implementation.

Administration of the Steering Committee, inter-agency groups and cross-border working groups:

  • Support the organisational of the project and stakeholders meetings, draft invitations, agenda and meeting minutes, develop concept documents;
  • Organise and participate in joint activities such as capacity-building trainings; awareness interventions; roadshows and dialogues session with YN; partners and key stakeholders
  • Coordinate the distribution of relevant project related IEC materials
  • Collect and compile primary data regarding baseline data and programme indicators
  • Provide Support to the project related procurement
  • Prepare and maintain proper project filing

Person Specification: Essential

  • Completed Matriculation
  • Excellent skills in MS Excel and Word
  • Experience in working within the INGO/NGO sector
  • Experience in working with youth organisations; civil society organisations and government counterparts

Person Specification: Preferred

  • Post-matriculation certificate or diploma/degree in Business Administration; development or social studies, advanced project management or similar
  • Knowledge of M&E concept and tools
  • Extensive Experience on facilitation of child participation initiatives and children focus groups
  • Experience in developing case studies,  realising concept documents and literature reviews
  • Experience in developing work plans and results-based management concept and tools
  • Experience of Basic financial management or project financial administration
