SUMMARY
Vacancy Unfinished Business of Paediatric and Adolescent HIV project needs Community Linkage Officers for the sub-districts in which it will be operating. Four Positions are available in each of the following districts (12 in total):
  • Ethekweni (North, South and West)
  • Umkhanyakude (Hlabisa, Jozini, Mtubatuba and Umhlabuyalingana)
  • Zululand (Abaqulusi, Nongoma, Ulundi and Uphongolo)
Role description To ensure the uptake of HIV Testing Services for children and adolescents in a child-friendly manner at community level.

NACOSA is a network of over 1,500 civil society organisations working to turn the tide on HIV, AIDS and TB in Southern Africa. NACOSA promotes dialogue, builds capacity with accredited training, mentoring and technical assistance and channels resources to support service delivery on the ground, particularly among key populations, vulnerable children and women and girls. NACOSA is a partner in the Unfinished Business of Paediatric and Adolescent HIV in KwaZulu-Natal project with the ELMA Foundation which targets the same districts receiving PEPFAR and Global Fund investment for HIV prevention, to help ensure linkage to care and treatment services for HIV-positive children and adolescents, specifically adolescent girls.

The role
The Unfinished Business Community Linkage Officer is a permanent position to:

  • Ensure the uptake of HIV Testing Services for children and adolescents in a child-friendly manner at community level
  • Strengthen linkages in both in facility settings and testing done in the community level targeting children and adolescents age target 0 age to 19 years
  • Improve linkage to the care system with a stronger focus on case finding and client indexing
  • Strengthening the multidisciplinary linkage coordination at the WAR rooms, clinic committees, ECD centres and Philamntwana centres

The key performance areas of the role are:

  • Implement Case Finding Approaches in the community and facility setting
  • Implement and monitor Kids Alive model and Adherence and Disclosure guidelines in community setting
  • Implement and monitor patient tracking logbooks and interventions to bring those lost to follow- up back into care through SMS, phone calls or home visits
  • Implement child and adolescent tracing and retention in care system
  • Ensure stronger collaboration between linkage officer and CCMDD
  • Provide technical support in community based adherence clubs to ensure clients adherence plans
  • Implement Decanting plans in collaboration with facilities
  • To apply Quality Improvement Methodology in improving linkage to care so as to reach 90-90-90 targets
  • Assist CCGs, WBOTs, WAR room stakeholders and LACs with conception of annual plans which are aligned to the 90-90-90 strategy focusing on the Unfinished Business project deliverables
  • Compile monthly and quarterly stats and narrative reports to NACOSA

Requirements Qualifications and experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Community Development, Social and Auxiliary Work or Nursing
  • Specialized knowledge and experience in Community Health and stakeholder engagement Skills and attributes:
  • Interpersonal Skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Successful candidates will be facility based reporting to the respective CBO. Remuneration will be competitive, based on skills and experience.
