Their mission is to be the strong, global and independent voice for animals under human control by creating sustainable solutions for animals in need, touching hearts, changing consumer behaviour, driving legal change & building powerful partnerships. They are actively involved in 14 countries and started an African office 10 years ago. The head office in Cape Town has been functioning for the past three years and will be growing significantly in the next year. There is a sanctuary for big cats in Bethlehem with a staff stronghold of 60.
 
Four Paws is recruiting for a Fundraising Manager who will be responsible for managing two Fundraisers & a Fundraising Administrator, developing a fundraising strategy and increasing the donor base significantly. The role requires the confidence and experience to network with potential donors and nurture existing donors. The person must have the ability to create and deliver a strong fundraising plan to grow and develop the programmes in South Africa. Coupled with these tasks, the role also requires marketing and brand building.

The office is based in Cape Town (Westlake) and the person will be required to travel nationally at times to the projects in South Africa and abroad once a year. The role will report to the Executive Director.
 
Main responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for creating and delivering a fundraising plan to increase donations and sponsorship
  • Work with staff to understand their project plans and fundraising needs at the beginning of each year, reviewing regularly
  • Continue to build their network of external sponsors and donors through active contact and relationship building
  • Work with the Four Paws team to create ideas for fundraising events and sponsorship
  • Build the corporate network for funding opportunities and support both locally and internationally
  • Be the expert on donor applications (both local and international)
  • Ensure donors are updated through website, social media, newsletters and specific reporting requirements

 Key requirements:

  • 8+ years proven experience in a fundraising management role
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Very good strategic development and financial management experience
  • Excellent communications, written & verbal in English
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills
  • Good project & time management skills
  • Strong ability to inspire, lead and motivate a team to reach success and fundraising targets
  • Firm grasp of the development sector and a passion for wildlife preservation
  • Unendorsed driver’s licence & own vehicle
  • Willingness to travel nationally
  • Strong writing skills to produce blogs, stories and campaigns

 
Four Paws is recruiting for a Senior Fundraiser who will be working closely with the Fundraising Manager to support the development and implementation of the fundraising goals and strategy. Responsible for researching funding prospects and maintain a strong prospect funding database. The office is based in Cape Town (Westlake) and the person will be required to travel nationally at times to the projects in South Africa and abroad once a year. The role will report to the Fundraising Manager.

 Main responsibilities:

  • Work against set and agree fund development targets
  • Mange funding contracts
  • Nurture supports and cultivate fruitful relationships with new donors
  • Continue to build their network of external sponsors and donors through active contact and relationship building
  • Work with the Four Paws team to create ideas for fundraising events and sponsorship
  • Build the corporate network for funding opportunities and support both locally and internationally
  • Assist with the update of the website, social media & newsletters

 Key requirements:

  • 4+ years proven experience in fundraising
  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Excellent communications, written & verbal in English
  • A proven track record securing grants and sponsorships from corporates and development organisations
  • Good presentation skills
  • Good time management skills to reach deadlines
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills
  • Firm grasp of the development sector and a passion for wildlife preservation
  • Unendorsed driver’s licence & own vehicle
  • Willingness to travel nationally
  • Strong writing skills to assist with the production of blogs, stories and campaigns
