Afrikagrupperna (Africa Groups of Sweden) Southern Africa has its head office in Sweden. Afrikagrupperna, who’s history stems from the Swedish liberation/anti-apartheid movement, is a funding partner committed to social and economic change in 5 countries (South Africa, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia and Angola) in the region.  Through close partnerships we hope to ensure that voices from below count in development. As a solidarity organisation we strive to have long and transparent partnerships based on a shared world vision.

Afrikagrupperna has been active through offices in different countries in Southern Africa. It has since resolved to operate from a central regional office, based in Johannesburg. Afrikagrupperna seeks to appoint a committed and capable staff member to implement the organisation’s strategy in the region. Applications are invited for the post of:
 
Regional Programme Officer
 
As the successful applicant, you will be part of a team of programme officers (POs) who will be responsible for implementing Afrikagrupperna’s programmatic work in the region.
 
You will also be responsible for developing close working relations with partners, and facilitate capacity building. You will also be expected to contribute to regional team planning, review and learning processes.
 
As a PO, you will be responsible for preparing partner agreements, ensure partner reports are received in line with requirements, review partner reports, conduct assessments and monitoring visits and report on the progress of partners. Linked to such work, you will assist with the financial compliance of partners, as well as provide reports for fundraising purposes.
 
Requirements:  You should have a relevant degree and solid experience in a similar role.  
 
Your capabilities and knowledge should include: solid experience in managing partner support, a solid track record of working developmentally with partners, (this is a priority for the position). You should have the ability to support partners as they reflect on their own development practice as well as have a grasp of organisational development. You should have good reflective practices and a commitment to continuous learning. You should also have experience of regional work; good report writing ability; excellent written and communication skills in English. Good command of the Portuguese language will be an advantage.
 
Knowledge of at least one of Afrikagrupperna’s programmatic areas: Natural Resources, Food and Trade, Working and Living conditions, Sexuality and HIV will be another advantage. A further key requirement is a good understanding of gender/feminism or related issues.
