People Opposing Women Abuse (POWA) is a women’s rights organisation that aims to create space for women to enjoy their fundamental human rights in a free and safe environment. POWA seeks to urgently appoint a highly skilled individual to fill the position of Projects Assistant/Training Facilitator for its Projects and Training Department.

POWA seeks to appoint a Projects Assistant/Training Facilitator, based in Johannesburg. 

Availability: Immediate.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate and execute training programmes/workshops
  • Assist Training Manager to develop training material
  • Monitor the quality of training
  • Complete and review participants’ evaluations of training interventions
  • Keep adequate training reports and submit them weekly
  • Facilitate community mobilisation
  • Attend meetings on behalf of the department
  • Coordinate community dialogues
  • Coordinate staff skills development
  • Make all the necessary logistical arrangements
  • Assist with any other ad-hoc tasks as and when required

Requirements: 

  • Grade 12
  • Minimum one-year experience in the South African women’s rights sector
  • Certificate as a Facilitator/Moderator/Assessor (preferred)
  • Facilitation skills
  • Capacity to generate high quality reports
  • Attention to details
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Speak two or more South African indigenous languages
  • High level of computer literacy
  • Driver’s license
