LifeLine aims to cultivate and grow emotional health in individuals and communities; by preventing and healing emotional trauma and crisis through counselling, training and capacity building, and engaging and mobilising communities.

LifeLine/Childline Western Cape seeks to recruit a Social Worker, based in the Western Cape.

This is a fixed-term contract position.

S/he will provide therapeutic counselling to child witnesses and their families at five sexual offences courts in the Western Cape.

Requirements:

  • Degree in social work;
  • Registration with the SACSSP;
  • A clean record with the Child Protection and Sexual Offences registers;
  • Experience in providing therapeutic counselling to (sexually abused) children and their families;
  • Knowledge of South African legislation regarding children and the Child Protection field;
  • Compilation of statistics and report writing;
  • Research and understanding of community issues and trends;
  • Networking with welfare and other agencies;
  • Referral Services;
  • Communication and written skills;
  • Administration skills;
  • Knowledge of English and Afrikaans;
  • Computer literacy;
  • Public speaking skills;
  • Valid driver’s licence and own vehicle essential;
