Universities South Africa is a national association that represents the interests of South African public universities through its key roles of advocacy, strategic research and sector support services. Universities South Africa also encourages cooperation among universities and among partners with whom it shares interests. Its Executive Office, comprising 56 staff members, is based in Pretoria. As a non-profit organization, Universities South Africa is funded through membership fees and revenues from contract management services and donor agencies. Applications are invited for HEAIDS Regional Coordinator positions. These positions present an exceptional opportunity for qualifying professionals to join Universities South Africa and help it achieve its growth targets.

The positions advertised are for the Higher Education and training HIV/AIDS Programme (HEAIDS) responsible for mitigating the epidemic of HIV/TB/STI and other social and health challenges within all Public Colleges and Universities within South Africa.

Three-years fixed term appointment
Remuneration package: Market- related salary package
 Centre: KZN (1 Post) and Gauteng (1 Post)

Regional Coordinators will assist in the management of Provincial Coordinators and provincial implementation, coordination, reporting and sector support of sustainable HIV/AIDS, Health and Wellness programmes in the Higher Education and Training sector, including Public Universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Colleges (TVET). The HIV/AIDS, health and wellness programmes include the following programmes: First-Things-First, Women and Men’s Health and Empowerment, Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual, Transgender and Intersex groups, Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention, Peer Education and other health related and educational programmes. Peer Education role and responsibilities will include the coordination, facilitation, monitoring and evaluation of the programme including reporting to Higher Education and Training HIV/AIDS programme.
Requirements: ● Bachelor’s Degree preferably in the field of HIV/AIDS and Social Sciences● At least 3-5 years’ experience in programme administration or programme coordination ● Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and TB issues in South Africa is desirable, together with demonstrated understanding of the Higher Education sector ● Basic skills managing grants and allocated budgets will be advantageous ● Ability to manage complex problems proactively and effectively, including responses to field based emergencies ● Ability to achieve high performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment ● Ability to exercise discretion in dealing with confidential or sensitive matters, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response ● Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail and deadlines ● Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders, including staff, external partners and donors ● Demonstrate proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability  ● Demonstrate professional aptitude ● High level of computer literacy primarily in Microsoft Office Packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Adobe Acrobat and Social Media web platforms● Strong English report writing skills for funding partners ● A valid driver’s license and own vehicle is essential.
Key Performance Areas: Campus Drives: ● Prepare operational plan and implement programmes at Higher Education Institutions and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Colleges in the region of appointment ● Distribute national educational and promotional materials ● Provide programme support as needed by public Higher Education Institutions and Technical and Vocational Education and Training Colleges with regards to ordering of collateral for activations ● Mobilise partners to provide services required for specific projects (e.g. testers needed to reach HIV Counselling and Testing targets set) ● Collect Monitoring and Evaluation data where appropriate ● Ensure all enquiries are followed up and offer made for further support ● Ensure all institutional files are kept up to date and are completed.
Media Support: ● Support Public Relations initiatives to profile projects and interventions ● Update social media platforms on programme progress and events.

Administration and Reports:  ● Administer day-to- day operational aspects of HEAIDS Women Health, Men Health Alcohol and Drug Abuse Programme programmes ● Organize and administer meetings, campaigns and workshops for Technical, Education and Training Colleges and Higher Education Institutions ● Determine training needs and coordinate training for institutions on, First Things First programme management toolkit, IACT, NIMART● Report to HEAIDS according to predetermined requirements ● Implement First Things First working groups in regions and coordinate meetings, write minutes and follow up on decisions made.

Networking, advocacy and lobbying: ● Coordinate and communicate networking between Higher Education Institutions campus medical services and surrounding Technical and Vocational Education and Training colleges for implementation of First-Things-First and treatment support post-testing ● Maintain collaboration arrangements with stakeholders to ensure sustainability of regional programmes through partners ● Source and share information on best practices.
