Pact, an international NGO based in Pretoria, seeks to employ candidates, including Veteran Social Workers with expertise in Social Work Coordination and Supervision (on a part-time basis of 26 hours per week) for an approximately 2,5 years employment contract to implement its USAID-funded Government Capacity Building Programme (GCBS).

DISTRICT SOCIAL WORK COORDINATORS

These are part-time posts based on a 26 hour working week

The District Social Work Coordinators are expected to provide mentorship and supervision services for Department of Social Development (DSD) in support of the GCBS programme.

Minimum Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To provide mentoring and support to DSD service point supervisors as required
  • To provide weekly supervision, support and oversight to GCBS social workers assisting them in developing and implementing monthly work plans to ensure DSD priorities and key GCBS programme activities are rolled out.  Focus will be placed on those activities that improve children’s access to services, strengthen case management and build the capacity for quality child protection services
  • To assist social workers in rolling out key behaviour change programmes under the GCBS programme to provide overall supervision, mentoring and guidance to social workers, which would include but is not limited to the following actions
    • Supervise, advise and support social workers to ensure an effective social work service through individual and group supervision
    • Keep up to date with new developments in the social work field
    • Supervise all the administrative functions required in the unit and undertake the higher level administrative functions

Minimum Educational Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work
  • 7 years of relevant experience in social work supervision
  • 7 years’ experience within the child protection sector

Other Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with or within the South African Government, preferably at DSD or similar agency
  • Strong team player with the ability to navigate complex organisational structures and motivate people for programme participation
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, must have a proven ability to develop and communicate a common vision among diverse counterparts
  • Fully computer literate
  • Must be a South African national with fluency in English and any local indigenous South African languages
  • Must be registered with the South African Council for Social Service Professionals
  • Should be in possession of a valid driver’s license and own car and be able travel long distances between services points within districts
