Corruption Watch is a civil society organisation that gathers analyses and shares information on corruption in South Africa and supports a more engaged and active civil society.

Corruption Watch, based in Johannesburg, currently has the following vacancy:

Paralegal

to assist the Legal and Investigations team with assessing and processing reports of corruption.

 Key performance areas include:

  • Assistance with investigating reports of corruption and compiling investigative reports
  • Assistance with report management including case management of PAIA requests and appeal processes and follow-ups with reporters
  • Assistance with drafting of legal papers, reports, letters, briefs to advocates, memoranda to attorneys and other communications
  • Assistance with the facilitation of workshops and seminars
  • Assistance with maintaining and building relationships with NGOs, CBOs, law clinics and other public interest law initiatives
  • Providing general administrative support to the Legal and Investigations Team

Applicants for the Paralegal vacancy must have:

  • Paralegal Qualification/ Diploma in Law
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a paralegal position
  • Proactive attitude, with enthusiasm for Corruption Watch’s mission and vision
  • Ability to work closely with diverse group of professionals and different departments
  • Excellent administrative and file management skills
  • Ability to adapt in a fast changing environment
  • Desktop forensic investigation experience will be an advantage
  • Litigation, research and writing experience will be an advantage
  • Good command of the English language, both written and verbal
  • Preferably fluency in at least one African language
  • Good computer literacy skills
  • A valid driver’s license
