Jembi Health Systems NPC is an African NGO focusing on the advancing of the area of Global Health through the correct use and implementation of Health Systems and Information.

Jembi Health Systems seeks to appoint two Software Engineers to join their cutting edge agile development team, based in Cape Town.

The organisation is hiring clever developers to work on a range of projects on different software stacks.

Jembi likes JavaScript (NodeJS, Angular, React, etc.), Enterprise Java, C# and Python MongoDB and PostgreSQL are its favourite databases, but it also uses MSSQL Server and MySQL as well (and a bit of neo4j).  Most of the organisation's code is open source (refer to https://github.com/jembi), and it runs a tight-knit, awesome agile team consisting of 10 developers, each with particular skills. Five have master’s degrees in computer science, and have worked at web-scale companies like MySpace and Quantcast. We run our sprints using JIRA.

Other tools: Ansible, Docker, Vagrant, Jenkins, Travis and lots and lots of EC2 and Digital Ocean VMs

Jembi does work for Ministries of Health all over Africa (South Africa, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Uganda), and partner with international organisations like MSF, the Rockefeller Foundation, UNICEF, CHAI, MSH, CDC and USAID to provide software solutions to improve health outcomes in low resource settings.

Applicants must have a strong background in computer science and experience working on enterprise software systems. They should be self-motivated, hard-working, and keen to learn and be interested in public healthcare.

These positions come with the opportunity to travel internationally and attend relevant conferences and implement our software solutions on the ground around the world.

Salary dependent on experience.

Candidates should be based in Cape Town.

To apply, submit an electronic CV and cover letter to careers@jembi.org before EOD (CAT).
