2012 Knight International Journalism Award
The International Center for Journalists is a nonprofit organisation, promotes quality journalism worldwide in the belief that independent, vigorous media are crucial in improving the human condition.
The Knight International Journalism Award recognises media professionals worldwide who have taken bold steps to keep citizens informed despite great obstacles. Past recipients include pioneering correspondents who have exposed government corruption, war crimes and other important stories. The award also has honoured crusading publishers determined to maintain their independence despite enormous political and financial pressures.
Recipients of the Knight International Journalism Award epitomise the journalistic ideals fostered by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the International Center for Journalists.
Winners are nominated by Knight International Journalism Fellows, past and present, and other seasoned international journalists.
Nominees can be reporters, editors, media managers, citizen journalists or bloggers.
