In South Africa, IYF’s mission is to support government and industry in enhancing the quality of training systems that empower young South Africans to access and further stimulate economic growth.
 
Based in in Johannesburg, IYF seeks to appoint a

Program & Training Manager

Reporting directly to the Program Director, Southern Africa, the Program and Training Manager will ensure effective management and execution of assigned youth skills development project(s) in South Africa, particularly those projects operated in close partnership with government and industry. The Program & Training Manager will also play a key role in informing overall strategic development and direction of IYF programming in South Africa, and will be an integral member in growing IYF’s programming and partnerships in the country.

Key responsibilities of this challenging and exciting position:

  • Provide program development, management and technical guidance, and ensure work plans are developed, managed, and objectives are met with respect to assigned project(s);
  • Monitor budgets and output/outcome data to ensure successful execution of assigned project(s);
  • Effectively engage IYF’s existing private sector and public education partners—including public TVET colleges—and cultivate new partners, both to expand delivery of IYF’s strategy in South Africa, and to enhance outcomes for youth participating in existing IYF programming;
  • Effectively engage with and expand IYF’s collaborations with relevant government agencies and departments active in youth skills development planning and implementation, and ensure IYF’s adherence to relevant government protocols;
  • Manage use of, as well as any adaptations to, IYF curricula and tools (Passport to Success, Effective Teaching, Career Guidance Services, etc.) for assigned project(s), working closely with relevant IYF staff in South Africa and Baltimore.

The Program and Training Manager will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Social Sciences, Commerce, or a related field;
  • 5+ years’ experience designing and managing Skills Development programs within the corporate sector, or in partnership with the corporate sector;
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with South Africa’s skills development policies and institutional frameworks, including the NSDS III, B-BBEE Codes of Good Practice and the Sector Education Training Authorities (SETAs).
  • Strong communication skills (written/oral), with the ability to engage a diverse range of public, private and non-profit stakeholders;
  • High degree of self-motivation, and a passion for youth empowerment;
