FHI 360 is an independent NPO serving in more than 60 countries, committed to resolve critical social problems throughout the world. FHI 360 was awarded a five-year Capacity Development and Support project to develop the organizational management, technical capacity and sustainability of local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and South Africa Government (SAG) departments, in order to sustain an improved, expanded, and country-led response to HIV and AIDS. Our mission is to improve lives in lasting ways by advancing integrated, locally driven solutions for human development. Through one of FHI 360’s projects, Capacity Development and Support (CDS) Project, it supports five partner organizations to implement the Early Childhood Household Stimulation (ECHS) intervention. This initiative is aimed at supporting caregivers to create an environment and opportunities where children 0-5 years old have access to a range of safe, accessible, high quality comprehensive ECD services at the household level.
Market Place for Early Childhood Educational Materials:
FHI 360 would like to invite service providers to a market place/exhibition of early childhood equipment/activities/toys and training programmes for parents/caregivers and care workers. Particular interest is placed on toys/ equipment that can be made from readily available local materials in communities based in peri-urban and rural settings. Only organisations which have a formal curriculum/training manual for toy and equipment making will be considered.
The objectives of the market place are to; allow exhibitors to display ECD equipment and their training manual; provide interested partner organisations an opportunity to identify educational materials and training that are relevant to their early childhood stimulation programs; and to present curriculum for toy/equipment making to all participants, maximum 10 minutes.
As a result of the market place/exhibition all of the ECHS partner organizations will be able to identify service providers who can provide training on use of local materials to develop educational equipment and toys for use in the implementation of early childhood stimulation programs.
