Researcher / Lead Evaluator

Zoë-Life is a professional and innovative South African Capacity Building and Development organization, working in the field of Public Health and Social Transformation. The Zoe-Life team is made up of a dedicated and dynamic group of passionate professionals working alongside vulnerable people and communities to innovate new solutions to old problems.

Zoë-Life would like to contract a Researcher / Lead Evaluator for a fixed term contract of 3 months.  

Responsibilities of this position of  Researcher / Lead Evaluator  include: guide and contribute to the development of research and evaluation of existing and new projects, budgets and work plans, developing M&E frameworks, indicators and methodologies, clarifying programme logic, developing research instruments, fieldwork and data collection, analysis and substantive report-writing and presentation to stakeholders.

Key objectives for this role include:

  • Strategic leadership;
  • Evaluation technical support;
  • Team mentoring and development; and

Qualifications and experience:

  • Evaluation experience within the development sector - a minimum of 2 - 3 years evaluation experience
  • Proven track record of published work
  • Significant and excellent experience in research design, data collection techniques, data analysis and report writing are essential requirements;
  • M&E qualification, or significant practical experience, is essential;
  • Quality academic record at a Master’s degree level;
  • Excellent report  writing skills and analytical approach;
  • Demonstrated effective planning and organisational management skills;
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage and negotiate at a senior level with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Experience with strategy development, implementation and training would be an advantage;
  • Drivers’ license and willingness to travel are essential.

This position would suit a mature, flexible and highly experienced, articulate candidate that works well in a team, is target driven, ambitious and hard working.

Candidates must be able to reside and work legally in South Africa and be based in Durban

Remuneration is commensurate with experience.
