HEAD OF POLICY & TRAINING

Level: This is a national management-level position.

Position: Head up the Policy & Training Dept that develops the evidence base for EE’s campaigns, and the materials with which EE educates its members. Manage a team to ensure that it informs EE’s work with the best available evidence, stays on top of research developments, law reform and policy developments, monitors implementation, conducts budget analysis, oversees EE’s presence in Parliament, produce reports, actively supports campaign work, and works closely with EE’s provincial heads. Also oversee an additional team producing training material for EE’s youth organising work.  

Qualifications, skills and competencies: A strong university qualification, preferably post-graduate, outstanding writing ability, good mathematical and statistical understanding, research background, interest in working with young people. At least two years’ experience at management level is a plus.

Location: The position is preferably based at EE’s Khayelitsha Head Office.
 
HEAD OF COMMUNICATIONS

Level: This is a national management-level position.

Position: The successful candidate will head up EE’s Communications Dept responsible for all public and internal media. The position will involve guiding and informing communication of EE’s message to members, communities, press, government and civil society, build EE’s public image, and work closely with heads of provinces. The position will involve providing direction and oversight on multiple platforms such as mainstream print and broadcast media, social media (specifically Facebook and Twitter), EE’s website, email newsletter and annual report.

Qualifications, skills and competencies: A university degree, preferably post-graduate, outstanding written and oral communication skills, interest in working with young people, management experience is a plus, being multilingual is a plus, graphic/visual design skills a plus.

Location: The position is preferably based at EE’s Khayelitsha Head Office.
 
DEPUTY HEAD OF WESTERN CAPE OFFICE

Level: This is a national management-level position.

Position: Senior leadership responsibility overseeing youth and parents organizing in the Western Cape. The successful candidate needs to be a strong organizer, activist and coordinator to lead and grow EE in the Western Cape, and to manage and build our work in the province.  The position will involve campaign strategy and planning, youth leadership development, political education, media engagement, parent organising.

Qualifications, skills and competencies: A university degree or equivalent, excellent written and oral communication skills, organizational, leadership and people skills, independent and a self-starter, interest in working with young people, experience in activism and organizing. Management experience is a plus.

Location: The position is based at EE’s Khayelitsha Head Office.
 
PARLIAMENTARY LIAISON OFFICER

Level: This is a senior staff / specialist position.

Position: This is a senior position within the Policy & Training Dept of EE. The position will involve establishing a strong link between EE and Parliament, building the capacity of EE to influence law-making and oversight processes, attending and presenting in Parliamentary committee meetings, preparing policy briefs, preparing written submissions to national or provincial parliaments and the DBE, preparing public analysis and responses to important topics such as SONA, Budget Speech, ANAs, Matric Results release, etc. Conduct responsive research for topical issues, participate in and support EE’s wider policy, campaigning and media work.

Qualifications, skills and competencies: A university degree or equivalent, excellent written and oral communication skills, good presentation skills, good mathematical and statistical understanding.

Location: The position is based at EE’s Khayelitsha Head Office.
 
CAMPAIGNS RESEARCHER

Level: This is a mid-level staff position. 

Position: This position is within EE’s Policy & Training Dept, which develops the evidence-base for EE’s campaigns. The position will involve supporting court cases and working with the EE Law Centre, conducting research related to national and provincial campaigns, producing appropriate publications (academic, media, members, multi-lingual, etc), and conducting responsive research for topical issues.

Qualifications, skills and competencies: A university degree, outstanding writing ability, background in research, good mathematical and statistical understanding, interest in working with young people.

Location: The position is preferably based at EE’s Khayelitsha Head Office.
