Lesbian Photos Immoral – Xingwana
Friday, March 5, 2010 - 14:45
The Joint Working Group (JWG) says that although everyone is entitled to their own opinion, Arts and Culture minister, Lulu Xingwana, as a person in public office, should not have walked out of an exhibition.
JWG’s Emily Craven says that by walking out of the exhibition, the minister played into the panic around homophobia in the country.
Craven’s comments follow an incident in which Xingwana walked out of an exhibition because it featured photographs of nude lesbian couples that she found ‘immoral’ and ‘against nation-building’. She had been due to speak at the opening of a show by young black women artists at Constitution Hill in Johannesburg.

I do believe that
By Marieta
I do believe that homosexual relationship is an immoral act , thus it should not be tolerated by the government and the church has the prerogative to condemn this kind of act. If transgender individual suffer discrimination so does women. There is correlation between empowering women and better quality of life – a country where women are educated to even the 5th grade level sees a dramatic drop in infant mortality as well as other improvements virtually overnight. A recent article in the Economist highlighted the practice referred to as gendercide, which is a
practice where ultrasounds revealing female embryos give rise to more abortions, especially in nations with a sex ratio imbalance.
