Budget, Stroke, Bills…
Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan delivered his 2016 medium-term budget policy statement in Parliament where he pointed out that South Africa was in a difficult economic transitional phase and consolidation and balance will be the key words regarding government finances over the next three years.
Gordhan praised his team at the National Treasury referring to them as individuals who choose to stay amid in difficult circumstances. When he was asked if the fraud charges brought against him affected his preparations for the budget, he responded "It's not easy to be a target and simultaneously serve the country, but you have a main focus and that's to draw up a credible budget and make sure we put South Africa's best foot forward."
South Africans are unaware of the signs and symptoms of stroke and do not get immediate treatment, yet every 6 minutes someone suffers a stroke.
In 2014 stroke took the lives of over 23 000 South Africans, it is said that Stroke devastates lives around the world and is the leading cause of disability and the second leading cause of death globally states the Heart and Stroke Foundation South Africa (HSFSA).
29 October is World Stroke Day, HSFSA and the World Stroke Organisation boldly declare that stroke is treatable through better awareness, access and action.
The Portfolio Committee on Trade and Industry has welcomed the release of two long awaited Bills that are critical for the South African society, said Committee Chairperson Ms. Joanmariae Fubbs.
Ms. Fubbs said the focus will be on increasing the need for responsible drinking and a consideration of the location and age of the drinker.
