IEC, CSO Engagement, June 16…
In this week’s edition of NGO Pulse, the independent Electoral Commission (IEC) has welcomed the judgement of the Constitutional Court, which paves the way for all the 26.3 million registered voters to participate in the upcoming Municipal Elections on 3 August 2016. In a press statement, IEC spokesperson, Kate Bapela, states that the judgement provides clarity and certainty that the electoral body required. Bapela notes that the IEC is already working on a programme of action to rectify any inaccuracies and omissions of address details within the voters roll.
On Thursday, 16 June 2016, South Africans commemorate the 40th anniversary of the annual Youth Day under the theme ‘Youth Moving South Africa Forward’. Minister in the Presidency, Jeff Radebe, stresses government’s commitment and reassures young people that the sacrifices of the youth of 1976 is not in vein. The main Youth Day event will take place at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
