Zimbabwe’s Health System Collapsed, MSF
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) says the Zimbabwean cholera epidemic, which has now claimed about 3 400 lives, is part of the country's public health crisis.
MSF international president, Christophe Fournier points out that, "It is only the most visible manifestation of a much broader problem in the whole country."
MSF head of mission to Zimbabwe, Manuel Lopez, says that there is a lack of supplies, staff and clinics. Lopez states that people who are ill are unable to travel to the clinics that are still open and argues that many health professionals are also no longer able to travel to work because their salaries are sometimes less than travel costs.
