The UK has pledged a R750 million support package to help South Africa fight the pandemic. The money will be used to help prevent new HIV infections.
South African minister of health Barbara Hogan, and the United Kingdom’s international development minister Ivan Lewis, visited children affected by HIV and AIDS at the Soul Buddyz clinic in Alexandra.
Lewis has praised Hogan’s commitment to fighting HIV and AIDS and says: “We believe she is now providing excellent leadership on the question of HIV and AIDS… We believe the new progressive approach to HIV and AIDS in South Africa is irreversible.”
