South Africans Warned Against Poaching
Thursday, September 20, 2012 - 17:46
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF-SA) says South Africans need to continue being vigilant in the war against rhino poaching.
The organisation says this is because the primary threat to rhino conservation in South Africa remains the demand for an illegal trade in rhino horn.
WWF-SA’s Dr Jo Shaw confirmed ahead of World Rhino Day that 388 rhinos had been poached this year and that up to 550 could be killed by the end of the year at the current rate.
