According to a Medical Research Council (MRC) report, the national HIV mother-to-child transmission rate (MTCT) has dropped to 2.7 percent in 2011.
Addressing reporters in Johannesburg, MRC’s Dr Ameena Goga, pointed out that, "This data shows a major achievement in the reduction off MTCT and we should celebrate it."
Goga maintains that this latest announcement should be seen a major development in South Africa's fight against HIV/AIDS.
