Pretoria Major Destination Point for Sex Slaves – IOM
The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) says that Pretoria is a major destination for the trafficking of sex slaves within South Africa.
IOM, which has completed a six-month study into trafficking within South Africa’s borders, warns that those at greatest risk of being trafficked in South Africa are black and coloured women younger than 20, followed by women aged between 21 and 30.
Titled “No Experience Necessary; The Internal Trafficking of Persons in South Africa”, the report states: "Organised crime is the biggest driving force behind trafficking with the primary motivating factor behind trafficking being money followed by the need for cheap labour."
