Outcry Over Rio+20 'Outcome Document' Negotiations
Civil society groups have criticised parties negotiating the outcome document to the Rio+20 meeting in June 2012.
The organisations want governments to attach internationally agreed human rights norms and standards to the outcomes, providing strong accountability mechanisms if they are not adhered to.
Blue Planet Project, Anil Naidoo, maintains that: “We will not stand by as a few states challenge hard won and established human rights.”
