OUTA’s Last e-Toll Challenge

The Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance makes its last attempt today to legally challenge e-tolling

The Opposition to Urban Tolling Alliance (OUTA) will make its last attempt today to legally challenge e-tolling.

The civil action group is taking on the South African National Roads Agency Ltd (SANRAL) and the government, over the implementation of e-tolling in South Africa’s major economic hub, Gauteng.

OUTA chairperson, Wayne Duvenage, points out that after witnessing the erection of gantries over stretches of newly constructed freeways around Gauteng in latter 2010, numerous legal attempts to challenge the e-tolling system were mainly due to SANRAL’s lack of mechanics, administration and enforcement related to the project.
