African Monitor, 9 May 2008.
The African Monitor (AM) in partnership with the Inter-Faith Action has launched a Grassroots Community Social Movement in Africa, to monitor and advocate for effective service delivery of development commitments in Africa in Johannesburg.
Speaking at the launch, AM Founder and President, Njokonkulu Ndungane, noted that, “This movement will be owned and driven by grassroots communities, so that in the end they are an integral part of decision making about delivery in the continent.”
In the same vein, According to Ndungane, the solutions to Africa’s development challenges lie in the wisdom of those who face those challenges daily which relates to the grassroots approach. He further urged the media to hold delegates accountable to their words and principles that they committed to adhere to.
