NGOs Criticises Department in Parliament
The Department of Women, Children and People with Disabilities, which stands accused by the Democratic Alliance of poor financial mismanagement and failing to serve their constituency, is criticised for failing to meet their mandate.
Addressing Parliament's Portfolio Committee on Women, Children and People with Disabilities this week, NGOs were of the view that more needs to be done to assist the vast majority of children in the country who remain deprived of basic rights.
They argued that disabled people, most of whom were unemployed, lacked accessible and affordable transport as well as housing opportunities among other challenges, are also not being properly served by the department.
