Mail and Guardian reports that the South African National NGO Coalition’s (SANGOCO) NGO Week 2003 pointed to the leadership and management crisis in the Coalition as the main cause of a lack of progress on key deliverables.

The delegates of the conference that took place last week in Boksburg elected Marcia Manong from the Northern Cape-based Association for Rural Advancement (AFRA) as new SANGOCO president, as well as five new members of the Coalition's National Executive Council (NEC). It is hoped that the new president and NEC members, along with a new CEO to be appointed shortly, will be able to lift SANGOCO out of its current organisational impasse.Chief among the resolutions of the conference was to revive SANGOCO's Anti-poverty Campaign and the appointment of a task team to investigate the current crisis at the National Development Agency.
