NGO Hails MEC’s Demotion

The LPM has welcomed what it calls the “demotion” of former MEC of agriculture and environmental affairs Mtholephi Mthimkhulu in KZN

The Landless People’s Movement (LPM) has welcomed what it calls the “demotion” of former MEC of Agriculture and Environmental Affairs, Mtholephi Mthimkhulu, in KwaZulu-Natal.

“We believe the demotion was long overdue given his dismal track record in dealing with land and agriculture issues,” says LPM’s Bhekokwakhe Dlamini. Dlamini argues that Mthimkhulu failed to deal with land issues affecting poor and landless people on farms.

He says that Mthimkhulu was only concerned about serving the interests of white commercial farmers and the black economic farmers who continue to abuse landless farm dwellers.
