The Nelson Mandela Foundation (NMF) has launched the Nelson Mandela International Day for 2011 in Johannesburg.
The day, to be commemorated under the theme ‘Change’, was launched by a panel of schoolchildren in the absence of the recuperating former president.
NMF spokesperson, Sello Hatang, says a decision was made ahead of the launch not to mention Madiba's health to avoid it overshadowing the event.
This year’s launch, held at the NMF's premises saw the children, from various high schools in Gauteng, give their views on what the day means to them and how it should be commemorated.
