Tuesday, February 4, 2003 - 11:31
Mercury, 04 February 2003
According to the Mercury, the KwaZulu Natal Aids funding saga has finally come to an end. Approximately R800 million to fight the pandemic were released to the province by the Global Fund to Fight Aids, TB and Malaria at the weekend.
The announcement comes after months of uncertanity, red tape and conflicting media reports about the status of the grant.
In another interesting development, the Global Fund has also granted R250 million for South Africa to strengthen national and provincial capacity for prevention, treatment, care and support related to HIV and TB in South Africa.
