Global Down Turn Blamed for Closure of NGOs

According to GreaterGood South Africa (community networking site), says some NGOs and charities are closing down because of the global downturn, and others face a tough few years with funds drying up.

The site, which has 1 300 registered South African NGOs, further warns that members are feeling the pinch.
Its founder Tamzin Ratcliffe points out that: "There is no doubt that increasing food and living costs, as well as interest rate hikes, are generally making things tough for people in South Africa.” Ratcliffe states that many in the development sector have watched with concern as the financial systems of its biggest donors have wobbled and crashed.
