Gauteng Govt to Move Refugees
The Gauteng provincial government has announced that a second batch of refugees living on pavements around the Central Methodist Church in Johannesburg will be moved to a new location, probably in mid-June.
Spokesperson Daniel Ramarumo says renovations have started on the building identified for their relocation and that it will probably be finished in the next three weeks.
According to Ramarumo, 134 of the thousands of refugees who flocked to the church in the past year have been relocated. He says they have been taken to a building in Rosettenville.
