The Freedom of Expression Institute (FXI) has blamed the crisis at the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) on the board, which it says lacks legitimacy and public confidence.
FXI Executive Director, Jane Duncan, notes that, "President Thabo Mbeki should recall the current board. It has failed to deal with the internal problems facing the broadcaster, which are mainly political."
Duncan argues that there is a crisis at SABC, adding this is an opportunity to deal with all the problems that have faced the public broadcaster in the last two years.
