Eskom Halts Plans to Build a Nuclear Reactor

Eskom’s decision to cancel its plans to build a new reactor Eskom had saved the country from economic ruin. This is according to Earthlife Africa, energy policy officer, Tristen Taylor.
Experts warn however, that Eskom’s decision to pull the plug on building a second nuclear power station could mean South Africa will face electricity crises for almost two decades.
While environmentalists call Eskom’s decision a “watershed moment” in the history of South African energy supply, experts believe that the electricity crisis is going to remain for at least the next 15-20 years.
