Corrupt NGO Leader Arrested in South Korea
Wednesday, November 5, 2008 - 11:53
The Korean Federation for Environmental Movement (KFEM), one of the largest environmental groups in that country, has made a public apology for one of its member's embezzlement of subsidies and donations.
In a press statement, KFEM states: “We apologise for disappointing the public over the recent corruption case.''
The apology comes after a group leader identified only as Kim was arrested for misappropriating funds the organisation received from various sources. He spent the money on paying staff salaries, buying a sports car and paying off his girlfriend's debts, making fake receipts to cover up the fraud.
