Community Members Stop Construction of RDPs
Angry residents in Postmansburg in the Northern Cape have stormed a construction site and stopped the building of Reconstruction and Development Programme (RDP) houses.
The residents, who claim tender irregularities by the municipality, halted the construction and destroyed housing foundations and vowed to continue until their grievances are met.
Meanwhile, the Tsantsabane Municipality is accusing the councillor, Olebogeng Mabilo, of misleading the community. The municipality spokesperson, Diemiso Leburu, argued that there is a need for an urgent council meeting to decide what steps to take, adding that destroying the foundation was illegal.
