Call to Participate in the Electricity Hearings
Wednesday, January 13, 2010 - 09:26
The Minister of Energy, Dipuo Peters, has urged all South Africans to participate in the public hearings on electricity utility Eskom's proposed tariff increase.
Peters says the hearings, held by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA), provide a platform for the public to register their concerns about the proposed increase.
In a press statement, Peters asked all South Africans, even those who could not attend NERSA hearings, to make their voices heard.
Eskom has requested a 35 percent hike every year for three years in order to fund its R385 billion expansion plan.
