79.25 Percent Matric Pass Rate in SA Prisons

The Department of Correctional Services reports a total of 79.25 percent of prisoners who wrote national senior certificate examinations passed in 2012

The Department of Correctional Services has reported a total of 79.25 percent of prisoners who wrote national senior certificate examinations passed in 2012.

In a press statement, Correctional Services Minister, Sibusiso Ndebele, congratulated the inmates on achieving a 79.25 percent pass rate and also wished them every success in their efforts to empower and improve their lives.

Ndebele also said that from the new financial year - 1 April 2013 - it will be compulsory for inmates without qualification equivalent to Grade 9 to complete Adult Education and Training level one to four.
