Monday, August 3, 2009 - 10:02
2010 is going to come with good things but it may also come with dangerous things. This is according to the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC).
This view was reiterated by Health Minister, Aaron Motsoaledi, who said after the SANAC plenary meeting that: "I mean, we will be having lots of visitors here, we know there will be lots of visitors who come here for sex, you can’t hide that. It happens and what will be the effects on this country?"
Deputy President, Kgalema Motlanthe, who is the SANAC chairperson, also went onto say its sport and entertainment sector will hold talks next month to examine how the sporting spectacular would be used to focus on HIV/AIDS. Motlanthe further said the talks will also aim at ensuring that the 2010 FIFA World Cup does not result in increased transmission.
