Why should South African citizens adopt foreign children when there are so many orphans in South Africa? There is no difference between a child from a foreign country and a child in South Africa that is from another culture.

i think the system needs more help. i am a canadian living in south africa and i am shocked at the orhpanages and government regulations. we tried to adopt to give a child an opportunity at life and being successful and able to give back to society. we were told that we must be living here for 5 years before we can apply for adoption. so then i started to volunteer. then i was really shocked....i arrive around 9am and leave around 2pm that entire time most of the kids get 1/2 bottle of juice, bowl of dinner and yoghurt or jello or custard. however the drink does not come with lunch. how can these kids possibly grow if they do not get milk throughout the day. they only leave their cribs or cots for about 20 minutes each while i am there. and never outdoors for fresh air. it amazes me that the government says no to adoption by foreigners when the kids do not get the basic every day needs. they will never grow to have healthy successful live and contribute to society because as children they were not given the opportunity to reach their full potential. really, in todays global world it shouldn't matter who cares for us as long as they treat us good and love us as every child craves attention and love. so rather than let a child whether black, white , hispanic, colored have a desent home with love, food, education..... they get to grow up in an orphanage. i don't understand the government????

I think the opharns need more than money ...Perhap's alittle motivation that they can make it,that they can still make, make them awre of their skills and that their tragedies can be turned to trumphs...m also a former who has beaten all odd.
