Wednesday, June 10, 2009 - 10:02
Somalis are experiencing near-daily atrocities, including rape, the shelling of civilian areas and fighting that has forced more than 100 000 to flee their homes since May.
"It's a critical humanitarian situation, with regular atrocities being committe," says United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) spokesperson, William Spindler.
Spindler states that the UNHCR is concerned about how the fighting is affecting a population that has already endured several decades of war.
