ICASA gives operators more time to implement data rules

28 February

Telecommunications regulator the Independent Communications Authority of SA (ICASA) has given operators more time to implement regulations relating to an option to opt-out of notification for depletion of voice, SMS and data services and the out-of-bundle usage requirements.

In a statement issued this afternoon, ICASA says it published a media statement on 11 February indicating slight amendments to the End-User and Subscriber Service Charter Regulations (the First 2019 Amendment Regulations) in order to bring certainty and ensure the enforcement and implementation of the regulations does not result in unintended consequences for licensees and consumers.
