Govt, NGOs Partner Against AIDS

The Tanzanian government to work in partnership with an AIDS NGO, will embark on a special programme to minimise new HIV case.

The Tanzanian government, in partnership with non-governmental organisation which fights against HIV/AIDS, are set to embark on a special programme to minimise HIV/AIDS new cases in the region.

Regional HIV/AIDS coordinator, Dr Mohamed Iyulu, says the programme will target people who are at high risk of contacting the diseases identified as, Key Vulnerable Population (KVP).

Dr Iyulu states that KVP includes sexual workers, drug addicts and people who engage in homosexuality, adding that through the programme people will be sensitised on the importance of having regular health check-up and for those infected see the importance of using lifelong drugs-ARVs.
